The new BMW M5 is less than a year away from its world debut and test mules continue to be spotted throughout Germany. 2012 BMW M5 will be not only one of the most aggressive and the fastest M to date, but also the “greener” M to date. BMW plans to use several new technologies and a KERS system that will put the new M5 ahead of the current model, both in performance and fuel efficiency.

The typical M5 and BMW M aerodynamic features are featured on the car. With the new 5er central grille being much larger, the central intake size has been diminished. Wheel arches are swollen to add some mass on the F10’s athletic body. A side air intake is placed underneath the character line which climaxes at the wheel arch. The side skirts are more sculptured allowing for good aerodynamics.

After some downtimes of my website i can now give you a flashback of week 52.

What happend for this week. Roadfly.com reviewed the 2009 E89 Z4. And i had a video from the BMW Vision Dynamics Concept by Edmunds. I also had a cool onboard video with a E46 M3 GTR on the Road Atlanta circuit. And a crazy guy that doesn’t deserve a beemer, F01 7-series drifting on a public road. And also an onboard video of the M3 GT2.

What happend this week:

Introducing the BMW Concept ActiveE, the latest electric vehicle project under BMW Group’s initiative to produce vehicles that explore solutions to minimize environmental impacts while preserving the kinetic driving experience for which BMW has long been known. The BMW Concept ActiveE follows the all-electric MINI E as the second large-scale electric vehicle test program to be conducted in the hands of interested customers.

The BMW Group presents yet another milestone along the way to achieving CO2-free mobility. The BMW Concept ActiveE provides a taste of a purely electrically powered BMW. Focused on the requirements of practical use, the study is based on the BMW 1 Series Coupe and embodies the outstanding agility and characteristic driving pleasure of the 1 Series for the first time as part of an emissions-free drive concept.

At the same time, a brake torque is created which results in effective deceleration of the vehicle. This response enables a very comfortable driving style, especially at medium and constantly varying speeds. In urban traffic, some 75 percent of all deceleration manoeuvres are initiated without the need for the brake pedal. During Brake Energy Regeneration function, the vehicle’s brake lights are illuminated.

This brake effect acts on the rear wheels only. When the driver requires a higher level of deceleration, stepping on the brake pedal engages the conventional hydraulic braking system. If an emergency braking maneuver is required during braking, the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system applies selective braking and motor management measures to ensure that safe braking is always guaranteed.

The brake system is fitted with an electric vacuum pump which is activated on demand. Along with the Electric Power Steering (EPS) familiar from the production models of the BMW 1 Series, these features contribute to an increase in the overall efficiency of the vehicle.

Check out these sketches from Autocar of the new 2012 BMW 3-series. The new 3-series is expected to make its public debut at the 2011 Paris motor show.

Talking exclusively to Autocar, a senior BMW source revealed that a ground-up rethink of the company’s biggest-selling model will ensure that the next-generation 3-series will “remain relevant even when it goes off sale in 12 years’ time”.

The new 3-series is expected to make its public debut at the 2011 Paris motor show. In its first incarnation, the new model is expected to offer class-leading aerodynamics, with a Cd figure of 0.24, as well as pioneering the use of three-cylinder engines in premium vehicles.

The 3-series is part of a new BMW strategy in which ‘premium’ is defined in terms of environmental compatibility. It is this strategy that has prompted BMW to pull out of Formula One from the end of this year.

The reinvention will step up a gear in 2016 when the 3-series undergoes a mid-life revamp. This is expected to represent the biggest technological step-change in car design for decades.

Sources say much of the underskin technology — such as the climate control system — will be completely re-engineered. Many of today’s in-car systems have in principle remained unchanged for decades.

BMW engineers are already years into programmes that will extend the reach of the company’s successful Efficient Dynamics fuel-saving tech to make all aspects of the 3-series — not just the engines — as energy-efficient as possible.

To this end, BMW has fitted thousands of existing customers’ cars with sophisticated black boxes that record all aspects of their use, helping engineers to plan the shape of future models.

For example, the research shows that of all BMW’s models, the 320d is driven the fastest and over the greatest distances by owners. This information will directly influence work on replacements for the 320d to optimise fuel efficiency in the light of this model’s particular duty cycle.

Much of this engineering work is also aimed at the future ‘electrification’ of the car.

BMW’s product planners expect most future car families — especially those in the premium sector — to come in both hybrid and fully electric forms.

This means the design of the car’s electrical architecture and ancillaries will have to be completely rethought to deal with being powered purely by battery. Insiders say headlamps, for example, will have to become far more energy-efficient.

I wanted to share this nice and controversial BMW GT concept design by the Iranian Designer Emil Baddal, i must say i like this design more than the M-Zero concept. You can find his portfolio here.

I just wanted to share this pics from the E92 M3 “Darth Maul” project from MWDesign, it’s a Jerez Black exterior with a Fox Red interior trim,  this project is currently at stage 1, more to come in stage 2, hopefully it won’t be overdone, i like these orange accents.

BMW will be showing off the BMW X6 Ambulance at RETTmobil, a trade show for rescue and mobility vehicles in Germany. The BMW X6 iDrive50i has 4.4 liter V8 engine with 407 horsepower.

With 370 km/h the fastsest BMW Coupe: G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS.

Creating the ultimate BMW, nothing less was the set target for the G-POWER engineers when they started to designe the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS.The starting basis for this project is the currently most exclusive model in the BMW product range, the BMW M6. Due to the combination of this fantastic basis with the technical innovative products of G-POWER, it was able to create a sports car of superlatives. Powered by a V10 SK III RS twin-supercharger engine with 750 hp / 552 kW, which enabled the G-POWER world record car to achieve a top speed of 367,4 km/h, the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS has got what it takes to be a member of the super car league.

Further characteristics of the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS is the multipart widebody kit, the high performance Carbon-Ceramic break system, the individually adjustable suspension kit and last but not least the nifty 21 inch G-POWER wheels with MICHELIN tyres.After the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS broke the world record for the fastest sedan, G-POWER developed this idea to use this potential to build the world’s fastest BMW coupe, the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS.

For this project, the redesigned twin supercharger system of the world record car for the fast-revving V10 was used. Compared to the standard system, both belt-driven ASA T1-313 superchargers, each providing charge air for one cylinder bank, were replaced by larger ASA T1-316 models. They have the capacity to increase the volume of charge air by up to 25 percent but only a fraction of that was utilized in this engine. The air volume these chargers are capable of would theoretically be sufficient for a rated power output in excess of 900 hp.   The pre-compressed air from both superchargers is cooled for maximum power yield in a dual-flow water-to-air intercooler painted G-POWER orange. This sophisticated cast-aluminum component replaces the stock airbox above the engine. Because of its close proximity to the engine it produces the same instant throttle response as the production engine, albeit with considerably more torque.

The inner workings of the ten-cylinder four-valve engine are optimized with forged high-performance pistons from Mahle that reduce compression. They have been precisely matched for weight and are much stronger than their production counterparts. The production piston rods and pins also had to make way for special components that can handle the much higher forces.

Further optimized mapping of the engine electronics also contributes to the increased power output of 750 hp / 552 kW, available between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm. The engine delivers its peak torque of 800 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS sets new performance records not just for top speed with more than 370 km/h. With sprint times of less than 4.4 seconds from rest to 100 km/h, 9.6 seconds to 200 km/h and 26 seconds to 300 km/h the nearly two-ton coupe is at the head of the pack in these categories as well.

Two tons and a top speed of 370 km/h naturally place extreme demands on the tires, which were mounted on G-POWER light-alloy wheels. Technology partner Michelin provided high-performance Pilot Sport PS2 tires in sizes 255/35 ZR 19 in front and 305/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle. These tires were the only ones capable of handling the extreme stress. In everyday driving the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS runs on 21-inch Silverstone Diamond wheels with size 255/30 ZR 21 and 295/25 ZR 21 tires, due to the capacity of the tires the top speed has to be limited to 340 km/h, than.

In addition to the most powerful BMW engine ever to power a street-legal BMW, favorable aerodynamic properties were of elementary importance. The needed body kit has to fulfill to function at once. First of all it has to generate enough down force to keep the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS on the ground at speeds of more than 300 km/h and secondly it responsible for transform the standard BMW M6 into a super sports car. That is why G-POWER designed a unique widebodykit made entirely from carbon fibre. In addition to producing the desired downforce it is also designed to supply much more cooling air. It consists of front apron, bonnet with vents, rocker panels, wheel arche attachments, rear aprons with diffusor and a rear spoiler wing.

At the same time G-POWER puts the BMW M6 on a diet and makes it lose weight bit by bit. The biggest share is taken by the G-POWER complete exhaust system made entirely form titan which lets the dynamic back pressure drop just like the weight. 24 kg are saved compared to the standard exhaust system.

In the vehicle interior G-POWER switches the standard front seats against racing seats made from carbon fibre, which ensure a perfect support for the drive in its fight against the centrifugal forces. Of course these seats are lighter than the standard seats as well and again the M6 has lost 24 kg.

Weight neutral, but not without effects is the G-POWER suspension package CLUBSPORT. It optimizes the road handling of the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS to perfection and is consisting of the continuously height-adjustable G-POWER coil-over RS suspension with nine selectable settings each for bound and rebound and the G-POWER anit-roll-bar kit for front and rear axle.

The option list of the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS ends with a true highlight: a Carbon-Ceramic break system with 6-piston calibres and brake discs with 380 mm in diameter. This heavy duty brake system delivers declaration rates beyond the gravity on a constant rate and at the same time are 50% lighter than the standard brakes.

The standout cockpit of the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS features a speedometer with 400-km/h scale, clear-coated carbon-fiber panels for dash, center console and doors, as well as an ergonomically shaped G-POWER sport steering wheel with especially pleasant perforated Kjerba Nappa leather.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS can be ordered as a complete car starting at 360.000 Euros.
